2025 AOPA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Made possible through donations to the AOPA Foundation, the more than $1 million in scholarships are a major benefit of AOPA membership, helping members reach their aviation goals.
Scholarship applications open Sept. 9, 2024, with awards ranging from $2,500 to $14,000 for primary flight training, advanced ratings/certificates, and aviation maintenance, etc.
Open to AOPA members that are U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents
Some scholarships also require applicants to meet additional criteria (see listings here)
Scholarship applications will close February 7, 2025, at 11:59 EDT.
AOPA You Can Fly Curriculum Teachers: Apply for one of 20 available $10,000 scholarships to earn your private pilot certificate. Additional criteria apply.
You need only submit one application that will be automatically considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

Bill Cowden Memorial Aviation Scholarship
Application Deadline: 5/15/2025
Amount: $1,500
The Bill Cowden Memorial Aviation Scholarship is available each year up to $1,500 to one pilot from the Midwest working to obtain higher ratings in aviation. Applicant must hold a current Private Pilot Certificate and plan to pursue advanced training in aviation
Calvin L. Carrithers Aviation Scholarship
Application Deadline: 8/15/2025
Amount: $1,000

National Aviation Explorer Scholarships
Application Deadline: 4/30/2024
Amount: $5,000 & $20,000
The National Aviation Exploring Committee awards individual scholarships annually to aviation explorers pursuing a career in the aviation industry.
Chicago Executive Airport Pilots Association
PAPA Scholarship & Safety Foundation will award one or more scholarships to individuals who are Illinois residents, attending or planning to attend an accredited university, college, or aviation technical school located in the state of Illinois, pursuing a course of study in a recognized professional aviation program.
